Bottle and CTD Data

• Bottle (and 1971 CTD) data along the Newport Hydro Line, 44° 39.1' N., collected on cruises from 1961 to 1971
• Data files are listed by year.
• File name is nh[year,month,day].#
• Files are in ascii columnar format with columns of station number (assigned), fractional year, decimal julian day, latitude, longitude, distance from shore, depth, temperature (° C), salinity (‰), potential temperature (°C), sigma theta, specific volumn anamoly (CL/T), dynamic height (J/KG), station name, [FLAGx].
• Station name indicates distance from shore in nautical miles.
• Missing or known bad values are specified with 0.1E+23.
• If FLAG is present, it means check the datat report for information about the variable specified, or if no variable is specified, then salinity and possibly temperature are suspect.
• 1971 had Bottle and CTD stations; CTD stations are marked with FLAGCTD.

Oxygen Data

• Files are in ascii columnar format. The format of data from 1961 to 1965 is: latitude, longitude, depth, temperature (° C), salinity (‰), oxygen (ml/l), phosphate (mM), year, month, day, hour, minute, second, name, [FLAGx]. The format of data from 1966 to 1971 is: latitude, longitude, depth, temperature (° C), salinity (‰), oxygen (ml/l), phosphate (mM), pH, alkalinity (meq/l), nitrate (mM), silicate (mM), sigma carbon dioxide, year, month, day, hour, minute, second, name, [FLAGx].
• Station name is NH #, where NH is the Newport Hydro Line and the number indicates the distance from shore in nautical miles
• Missing or known bad values are specified with -9.99, -99.99, etc. depending on the format of the data.
• If FLAG is present, it means check the data report for information about the variable specified, or if no variable is specified, then salinity and possibly temperature are suspect.
• Data for 1971 have both bottle and CTD data; CTD stations are marked with FLAGCTD.
